Noetic Articles

Much of the noetic work implies the adaptation of our reality perspective. Often there are many lingering beliefs that prevent us from getting the most out of our noetic abilities. In this page I would like to pay some attention to the possibility that we consider our mind less powerful than it really is. How can we expect limitless abilites when we don't really believe in them?

In a Dutch noetic article (Informatiedelving uit het Veld) I mention the idea that we could reach out with our mind's antenna to retrieve information that we considered lost forever.

I tend to believe that because of the modern digital possibilities we are slowly getting lazier and lazier seen from a mental perspective.

For why would you sit down quietly on a couch and take some time to delve into your memory to retrieve some information, when you could get the information much quicker by using your Ipad, Ipod, Blueberry, cell-phone, netbook, notebook or PC and google for it?

Isn't it far more easy to use your car navigation instead of looking at a map before you drive to a new address?

A while ago I heard the story of a woman whose navigation somehow didn't work. She was driving behind a friend of her through the Belgian city of Brussels. Somehow they lost each other because of a traffic sign that jumped to red. The funny thing that happened was that her children in the back almost panicked: Mom! We have lost them and we don't have any navigation GPS-device in our car! Help! How are we ever going to get out of this city?

In these modern digital times we unconsciously learn to say to ourselves: It's easier to trust a machine, than it is to think for myself. Instead of sharpening our minds we are working on the continuous weakening of our mind. How could you ever expect to creatively use your mind in noetic experiments when you have developed a pattern in which you prefer to use your mind as little as possible (I didn't even mention the use of the TV)?

It might just be a good idea to become aware of undermining the mind (or should I perhaps coin the term 'underminding?') and start training the mind again by giving it some interesting challenges. What about first taking some time to think about a particular kind of question before you enter the automatic google-reflex. You might find some interesting memories, ideas and feelings that are deeper and more colorful than google can ever present.

You may also try to drive your car without any GPS to assist you, even if it is just for one or two days a week.

On top of all this it is a good idea to expand your reality in regard to the abilities of your mind. Why won't you try to produce intentions like: "My mind is getting better in retrieving information every day" or "My mind produces wonderful new ideas on a daily basis" or "My mind is expanding and able to reach for unfanthomable layers of information"
